When all hope is lost

This poem shows the before and after of someone struggling through life. It is deep and melodramatic but very true

Isn't it tragic how as we grow our love for the world shrinks?
How we enter this world with nothing but purity and happiness yet we leave it with regret and heartache
How every scar upon our skin and every graise upon our knee is all for nothing

There comes a time in life where all hope is lost
When nothing on this earth can bring you out of the hole you dug yourself
When your mind is drowning in your tears and your soul is fading
You've been hurt before
You've been broken and knocked down before
But you've got up before
And you've survived before

Once you've fought with all your might to reach the light,
only then do you realise it was all worth it.
Once you've experienced so much heartbreak and still manged to come out of the dark you look at the world differently
Suddenly you see all the happiness in life rather than just the pain
You wonder how you never saw the beauty of the world before

So the next time you feel as if the world is against you,
Just know that all hope is not gone, its just lost
And will be found again.

Ellie this is such a beautiful and inspirational poem for a 14-year old to write! Just amazingly well-written and so true. You are wise beyond your years. Yes, as you express so well, struggle and suffering survived ,brings strength to the survivor. I love the last verse filled with encouragement and hope. Just some spelling and formatting changes to make the lines flow more evenly and emphasize important lines. I would split the second line after "happiness" and make a new line with the rest of it.I would split the 3rd line after "knee" and make a new line with the rest of it - also change spelling to "graze". I would split the 5th line after "out", 6th line after "tears",9th line change to "gotten", 13th line split after "heartbreak" and again after "dark". Those are my suggestions- also using commas at the end of lines where there is a pause. Hope this helps.
