Dead and Gone

Dead and Gone

A Poem by CircusNerd

~

To think that now after you're dead

I can remember all the memories we shared

Couldn't even think of all these  times

When you were actually right there

I see the world more clearly now

But it's blurred right through my falling tears

And this helplessness I feel inside

Is mixed right along with my fears

The time I never gave a care for

I cherish now like precious stones

And for the crimes I realize

I blatantly attempt to atone

I see the headlight ever more

Closing in, that ghastly night

And there we stood, hands held

But you pushed me from the nearing light

Your cry still rings inside my head

And thoughts of you keep me up

I try to sleep, I cannot keep

My mind, you always interrupt

I just want some sense of peace

To feel that it's not my fault

But your forgiveness is locked away

Forevermore inside a vault

I'm not a whole, I'm just a soul

A walking body of the dawn

A heart I shared, with you who cared

But now you're just dead and gone

I was a bit intimidated when I saw the title of this poem, but I'm glad I read it.
Its sad to not be able to ask for forgiveness or make amends. Sometimes you hit a situation where that person is the only one that would say the perfect thing. This poem collects all of those feelings. great job.
