Love?

Love?

A Poem by Emily W

The world can be a mean place
Things end before they've begun,
Starting like such fun.
Hearts everywhere being won,
All for it to come crashing down.

The tears don't help,
Pleas don't work,
Second chances are a mistake.

Feelings begin to change,
Positive to bad,
Happy to sad.

So was it really worth it?
Being made a fool of,
Watching the dream end badly,
Being left with nothing.

The fairytale shouldn't have begun,
The heart shouldn't have been won,
Feelings shouldn't have started,
Maybe it wasn't at all fun.

Love is a lesson learned... if you want to experience a fairy tale read a book... but in reality love must hurt both ways to actual understand the full message of the word... The world is not the problem... its the people who do not know how to balance the word versus lust... and in turn use the word as an advantage to a benefit...

I enjoyed reading this poem and your other ones as well. We should be friends, ha-ha, we seem to have similar writing styles and promts. I bet we could really swap some stories. :) I write a lot about love and about how "mean" it can be, but I also write a lot of poems about conflicting emotions and insanity? I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I will for sure be checking to see what you share next.

It's a good rhyming poem but I would say in response......'it is better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all' ( Shakespeare ) and he knew a thing or two about writing and human emotion !

I like it. Sad, definitely sad. It really touched me. To think that it has to hurt this bad. You have done a fine job with this piece as I seem to have felt every word deeply.
