An Apology (and love letter) to CA

An Apology (and love letter) to CA

A Poem by emily joe
"

see California Is a F*****g Homewrecker

"

California was just a dream

Just a dream, just a wire

From the tin can in my head

To the tin can in yours

For every time Chicago gasped me back

Los Angeles will breathe down my neck

Tangle its fingers in my hair

And plant one right on my f*****g lips

So, I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m sorry

Very nice writing. I've never lived outside of Maryland, but have had thoughts of other places. I'll always be a Marylander though.

Dear Emily,

Another excellent poem. I love how you wove the battle between these two cites over your being. Very creative again. Fraught with feeling.

Yep, I love southern California, but I'm not too thrilled with LA. In many ways, I like Chicago more. In fact, I don't even think of LA as being a part of the "California Experience". It's just too big, too dirty, too congested. While San Francisco it also congested, it has much more charm. It is a wonderful city. I live in San Diego. It's starting to get a bit congested, too. But not enough yet (at least for me) to cancel on all its benefits. But I agree with Coyote. There are lots of places that epitomize California, such an Monterey, Santa Cruz, etc. The oceans, the mountains, the redwoods, the desert. It's called the golden state for good reason.

Best regards! Another greatly enjoyed poem.

I do understand this poem. I was station for three years at Monterey, California. Been 20 years and I still wish to be sitting by the bay. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
