Navidad

Navidad

A Poem by emipoemi

El invierno ha llegado                                                ’Tis now the wintry season,

con gran felicidad.                                                      And happiness abounds.

(No es que nieve tanto                                                (Not so much for the snowflakes,

sino que llega Navidad).                                              But Christmas sights and sounds).

Las estrellas son brillantes                                            The stars across the heavens

arriba en el cielo.                                                         Are more than ever bright.

La tierra está muy blanca                                             The ground, so icy, snowy,

con nieve y con hielo.                                                   Is more than ever white.

Su luz la luna añade                                                      The moon her light adds also

(ya que está tan llena).                                                (Now full up in the sky).

El mundo está tranquilo                                                The world is peaceful, silent,

por bien ser Nochebuena.                                                For Christmas Day is nigh.

La gente ya se duerme                                                Adults and children slumber

con tanta emoción,                                                            In comfort and delight,

oyendo cada ángel                                                            While angels sing their carol

cantando su canción.                                                Across the holy night.

La magia por las sombras                                               The magic through the darkness

Siembra amor y amistad,                                                Sows love and amity,

Que ondean por los pinos                                              Which undulate through Chistmas,

Y toda Navidad.                                                            And ev’ry Christmas tree.

¡Duerme, pues, sonriente!                                              Sleep, thus, in blissful smiles!

¡Sueña con solaz!                                                            Dream deep, in solace dwell!

¡Duerme entre el silencio!                                               Sleep soundly in the silence!

¡Duerme bien en paz!                                                     Sleep peacefully! Sleep well!

This is magical, hypnotical and rhythmical. Like a song. And even in two languages. Clever girl Emipoemi.

Thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed it.
A beautiful write my friend, for which I am eternally grateful for the translation. :)
Where the rest of the world manages multiple languages in the same head at the same time, we get taught our own dead language and make do with shouting and pointing. We really should catch up with the rest of the world :)

I am envious of your multilingual skills. I only know English and a smattering of French, certainly not enough to compose something like this poem. I, of course, can't say how well it flows and how beautiful the imagery is for the Spanish version, but the English part is an enjoyable read. It very well sums up the essence of the holiday season. You weave artistic imagery very well with the many winter/Christmas themes and references. I wish I'd read this before Christmas this year.

I bow down to your writing expertise! WOW! I am impressed by your multi-lingual skills, & it looks like each rendition got the full poetic treatment. Strong rhyme & rhythm, well-chosen imagery from the wintry holiday season. I am extra-impressed at your attention to detail! Hope your holidays are going well & full of joy (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is a nice poem speaking to humanity with a strong sense of love and hope with a spiritual edge celebrating the divine in us (spirits having an earthly sojourn in a physical body which is their vehicle).

WELL DONE

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Brilliant and so beautiful...two languages sing softly a carol of Christmas angels in the snow...perfect form and rhyme...listen closely and hear the flutes of shepherds in the fields. Classic, celebratory, reverent and deeply moving. One to remember...
