In the Night

How it feels staying up thinking about someone who doesn't love you back.

I don't know how you do it

It's dark, its heavy
It's a new moon and I'm missing the light
The stars don't do anything for me
I made wishes that weren't fulfilled
And now I'm stuck in night full of memories
Of you

Blind to everything but everything honest
It's dark, it's heavy
I'm feeling my way through
Finding a heartwrenching solace in yesterday
The present is Christmas morning
Gone wrong

Whether or not I am blessed with your presence
Pins fly into my skin at the speed of my favorite song
It's a new moon and I'm missing the light
I miss not knowing if you'd give back
If I gave it all would I suddenly feel your hands
In mine

They tell me to look up to the skies
But miles and miles of darkness is all I see
What am I supposed to find
The stars don't do anything for me
Blinding truth hits my chest
I fold

Incessant knocking at my skull
What can be done? What have I done?
Questions unanswered like the why after you're told.
Possibilities never to occur play behind these eyelids
I made wishes that weren't fulfilled
Hope killed

And now I'm stuck in a night full of memories
Of you and how I love you still
It's dark, it's heavy, its bittersweet
In the night my soul cannot hide from you
Every inch of me reminded of this one
Unrequited love

I don't know how you do it.

Frankly I can relate; I think we all can. I particularly liked the passage
