Fall(ing in Love)

Fall(ing in Love)

A Poem by E.J. Michalec

The morning after we exchanged “I love you’s”
Walked outside, it smelled like rain
Every bit of my past hurt
Had all been washed away
Cool air brushed against my cheeks
And all had felt anew
Autumn leaves surrendered their bodies
As did my heart to you

Very strong use of words. I liked how you used the seasons to express your thoughts and your memories. When true love cover-up the old pain. We are re-born. Thank you E.J. for sharing the amazing poetry.

Beautiful poem, Emily. I especially like your last two lines. "Autumn leaves surrendered their bodies" is a great metaphor for how we make ourselves vulnerable to those we love, by shedding our protecting armor. Such a powerful poem with few words. Nice work!
