The interior design of one’s reputation

The interior design of one’s reputation

A Poem by E.J. Michalec

Familiar faces and bodies decorate the room and the elimination process begins
This one seems tacky
This one is too old school
This one is nice but SO not my aesthetic
This one is too high maintenance
This one takes up too much space
I fear bumping into all of this
There’s a possibility that it can hit and bruise the walls of my ego
UGH!
If someone finds this one in my possession I would be so embarrassed
Do you see the problem here?
Friendship is only taken at face value these days
Relationships are catalogued and can’t be out of order
Blood is thicker than water but because it could leave stain on the furniture we ponder if keeping it here is worth it
Sentiment is non existent
People toss away their personalities to make themselves presentable
It may look pretty but where is the love?
