Sharecropper Eyes

Sharecropper Eyes

A Poem by Billie

Bright-eyed-girl -- "knock, knock".
He opens the door.
Intrigued-girl -- "hello".
Innocent smile, secure-girl.
Just a quick evening visit.
Him, handsome. Muscular.
Pondering-girl -- steps in.

Notice, girl, the crop circles in the carpet.
Benefit-of-the-doubt-girl, a few more steps.

"Kiss me," he says.
Submissive-dream-girl -- "yes, okay".

With each kiss, her body language shifts.
Her mind, now different than moments ago.
Push back.
Push back.
Push back.

Somehow, she's now in his room.
Her soft eyes adjust to the darkness.
"What am I doing here," asks blame-yourself-girl.

Dim-eyed-girl isn't so secure now.
"We're doing this?" asks shaking girl.
"Yeah."
Push back.
"This wasn't the plan."
Push back.
"I didn't come here for this."
Push back.

Scared-girl, conjure a makeshift excuse. You have to go.
Don't forget to be apologetic -- you don't want to darken the eyes of men, even the dangerous ones.
She tries.
He laughs.
She dissociates. Awareness, black.

The play changes.
She fabricates bravery.
She tries to walk away -- if only she could get back to the view of the carpet; the micro-ditches that showed what was once there.

He spins her around.
His hands: warm, wet.
Her elbows, he grasps.
Her stomach, on the bed without sheets.

She
Can't
Breathe

Her eyes, no longer bright.
Pounded.
He laughs.
"S**t".
Pain.

Her spirit, now across the room.
Watching her body being used.
"Tell me you like it," she hears.

Wayward girl shifts her head.
Ransom notes leave his mouth and fall onto her unwillingly disrobed body.

Just look at the red digital numbers; he will be done soon.

"Maybe you deserved this," says her ghost.
Taunting.

Warmth seeps down her back. He marks what he just stole.

"You hungry?" he asks.
The district sound of his zipper follows.

Act normal.
Get dressed.
Leave, quickly.

Bright-eyed-girl.... she's gone.
Sharecropper-eyed-girl.... welcome.
