on each our canvas

on each our canvas

A Poem by Emily Quinn

Life may seem unconquerable at best,

I sometimes feel I’m failing the test.

But pessimism leads to only gloom,

Resulting in negativities destructive loom.

I look to the ones that mean the most,

The ones who I hold ever so close.

My brother is the one who fights off my fright,

Through hard times, I know he’ll make sure I’m alright.

In the other sibling I do confide,

Our bond did overcome our childhood divide.

To raise us right, mother tried her best,

Working three jobs with little or no rest.

Life can be grand, stranger’s kind,

The world does care, let me remind.

For my family I give my truest love,

For giving me the same honest deneuve.

There are two sides to every coin,

Good and bad, they both adjoin.

The side you choose paints your life,

On your canvas; harmony or strife.

So look at life not with dissension,

But move past the dire and welcome ascension.

Grab a hold of that which does inspire,

Whether music, love, freedom or desire.

Your life will thus greatly improve,

Then those stuck in place you can help unglue.

"Life can be grand, stranger’s kind,

Sometimes it is nice to have a reminder that there is good in the world. Thank you for telling me and to do it with a poem is even better.
