Red

Red

A Poem by Erica Ross

I've decided to let go
So that's what I'm going to do
These insatiable holes in our hearts
Are pains that I'll never get used to

I lust for what you want
You love what I need
It's been going on for so long
The thin lines are beginning to bleed

No one, not even you
Knows how I feel when I'm alone
No fib, all truth
For something to belong to, I've never fully known

A walking oxymoron
I need you, but I won't show
You're not a mind-reader
But I thought you should know

Love ain't so easy
At least that's what I think
Curse my charming words
Painting pictures while I speak

They all move on anyway
Even if I push them, or on their own
I can't say that I am used to it
But I have grown numb

So I've decided to let go
And that's what I'm going to do
This insatiable hole in my heart
Is a pain I'll never get used to.
