Black Shadows

Black Shadows

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

Written for Shades Of Darkness group.

"
Black shadows seep within the core of our minds
nightmares bloom, the plague of fear to bind
paralyzed bodies, brains spark to black dreams spun
a slave to crawling nightmares, dead hope to outrun
your core fears will be cast before your mind's eye
black shadows now crawl within each neuron bled of the sky
writhe in horror at what looks and feels true to life
a myriad of nightmares to plague like the caress of a knife
time crawls within slumber till with a start we wake
it was all just a dream, the black nightmare just fake
but when the day is dead and we return to lands of nod
black shadows will descend, sleeping cores to be clawed

Impressive writing Eric. This is a true nightmare with the promise of facing and enduring it again and again. You word choice is strong and stark, a reader can't help but feel the horror of enduring this and are glad its only a poem! Very gripping, vivid visuals that increase the dread and horror of this nightmare. It cuts straight and deep to the person's psyche to the point I can't help but believe it would be crippling indeed if one knew they were going to experience this this night after night after night!

You're welcome,,,,:)
A darkly stirring enchantment comes over your words... where even sleep does not steal away the restless mind and heart.

A truly nightmare and ultimate horror! Brilliant writing, superb attention to detail and description. You've created a landscape of horror which would make a person dread going to sleep at night!
