Jack o' Lanterns

A poem celebrating Jack o' Lanterns.

Jack o' Lanterns are glowing
fiery faces burn bright
on the walls shadows are dancing
chased by firelight
They glow mystically
and hauntingly
There's no other light
just Jack o' Lanterns burning bright
So beautiful
so magical
Till the night is gone
shine on, shine on
Jack o' Lanterns are burning
their fiery faces alight
orange flames glowing
in the black shadows of night

A beautiful and enchanting poem. I love the images it portrays, Jack o Lanterns lined up glowing in a warm snug house while October's last night slowly goes by as it rains and leaves falls outside. I love this poem!

I like the last four lines so much that I think they could stand being repeated -- try putting them at the start of the poem as well and see what you think (remove what are currently the first two lines so that after the opening four we go straight to 'on the walls...'). I hope you find my suggestion interesting, at least!
