Dec. 21 Black Doom?

Dec. 21 Black Doom?

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

Written for the contest: "Mayan 2012 Apocalypse".

"
December 21 is crawling ever near
will the black blade of envisioned Apocalypse sear
feel fear crawl to the back recesses of your minds
denial cannot fully eclipse the threat which binds
we try to hollow the threat of rising death doom
but we cannot slaughter the threat of Earth in a tomb
peril will claw our subconscious throughout this day
try as we might to entomb fear it cannot decay
those who truly believe the foretold dawn of death
shall swallow the cold shards of fear with each gasping breath
how will you react to the doom which may ignite
will you cower in fear or hold onto thoughts of light
the threat of doom may decay as the blood clouds clear
or the black blade of foretold apocalypse shall sear

My daughter of 16 years old. Asked me is the 21th the last day. I smile and told her. We won't died in a flash. We will slowly died a pitiful death because we abused the land, water and air. I enjoyed your poem. There is always possibilities of change in weather and some large object from space may shake-up the earth. I wouldn't bet my last nickle on this. I love how you use words. Making each poem feel real and scary. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Thank you!
Made me realize that though this doomed darkness moved past, we always live on the edge... May we find this year looming with ever so many joyful journeys... What a powerful voice you unleashed here.

We have a second chance! How will we use it....I wonder?

I think: perhaps the worst thing that could happen is for nothing to happen at all.
Might people scoff all the more and raise their irreverence for the living?

Very descriptive... It was a good thing nothing happened on that day but I think even those who don't believe were at least a bit scared... awesome poem. And congratulations on the contest win. ^_^

Thank you!!!! :)
I'm reading this on the 21st so we did survive. Very powerful and scary images in your poem. As we drew closer and closer to this date all sorts of horrors were predicted and obviously didn't happen. I enjoyed your poem. Very dark and fun to read. I'm glad I was alive to read this today and glad the whole world is still here.
