Dark Wolves

Dark Wolves

A Poem by Eric Cox

A dark moon rises into the night sky
out in the woods I hear her haunting cry
calling, calling, calling to me
the wolf inside longs to be free
so I walk out into the night
my eyes glowing solid white
sharp fangs and claws begin to grow
I'm bathed in the dark moon's glow
I become wolf and join her side
the human in me has died
I feel dark magic in me
and the wolf inside runs free
through the dark forest we race
human concerns we no longer face
we run off together and don't look back
our hearts beat as one, wild and touched by black.
