Autumn's Beauty

Autumn's Beauty

A Poem by Eric Cox

Red, yellow and orange brightly paint the trees
I feel and see the beautiful Autumn breeze
I dream of living in a cozy little town
with wood smoke and peacefulness to drown
walks in Autumn woods would bring a smile to my soul
such beauty and peace would paint my life full
Autumn shines brighter than any rich man's gold
Autumn's beauty slices through the cold
the trees paint the city with colored beauty
the cool air caresses my soul like the sea
I dream of a quiet home deep in a lovely forest
the beauty of nature and cute critters I so miss
if only life could be the way we want it to be
if only dreams wouldn't feel like only fantasies
if only tragedies and illness couldn't haunt and thrive
if only the beauty of Autumn mirrored our lives.

Very beautiful poem. You describe autumn's beauty perfectly. I love this time of year and your poem just explains why. Why most people love this time of year. Outstanding imagery in this, very peaceful and relaxing. The last has a tinge of sadness and I agree with your words. How much more we could enjoy life it sickness and hard times didn't haunt us.

Lovely, simply lovely, all the autumn colors but there's a sadness at the end, making me think, too, that autumn is beautiful but it can't be very cold, just like the sadness at the end of this poem.

Beautiful and bittersweet. I wish dreams weren't just fantasy and I'd love to walk this forested autumn place. Outstanding and awesome!

Dreaming of a beautiful and peaceful walk through autumn leaves and it all ends on a painfully sad note, its all a dream and why can't dreams be more than fantasy? I wish I knew the answer than I'd make my dreams come true and teach others. A vivid poem in visuals and emotions, amazing job!

Loved the illustrations and realisticness of this piece. You start on a journey of what felt like a day in the life of just about anyone around here lately! It starts out dreamy but then ends on the true note of how it really is. So many have been ill around here.. and I don't mean flu ill.. it's been so much more serious for too many people. IF only we could start and end each day feeling like the beginning of this write.. I love autumn.

Your poem is beautiful. "If only dreams wouldn't feel like only fantasies, if tragedies and illness couldn't haunt and thrive, if only the beauty of Autumn mirrored our lives.
