the ceiling of pain

the ceiling of pain

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the ceiling of pain

a torrid of pinpricks

the clouds leak insomnia tears

sorrow never sleeps

and we become the cushion

for feelings to penetrate

until there is no sky left

just a vast blue nothing.

'the ceiling of pain'
Jacob,
Just as we respond with joy in good times, happy times the opposite is true as well. Pain is a given in our lives and I have found as we all have that a little patience goes a long way. It's difficult to be in pain...physically, emotionally. With ourselves and others this 'pain' can be a dilemma. It is hard to see how relationships can even be damaged by how people respond to each other when pain comes to stay.
Great poem.
Bless you.

This piece may have made even the late Schopenhauer weep. It's so succinct, and precise.
Blessings.

thank you for your kind review,

depressing that sorrow never sleeps, it just lies low for a bit and then comes back in full swing whereas Joy just lasts a short time and we are back to the old story of sorrowful tears. I think we just need to keep good memories of joyful tears tucked in somewhere inside so that we can unleash whenever sorrow knocks

The sky is the limit, but the sky is limitless, pain is an eyelid of love, often an atmosphere of disillusionment, when night opens Earths eyes, she can see forever unfold... past the endless stars, that appear as pinpricks in the fabric of the cosmos.

Is there really a ceiling to pain? Aren't there times when there's nothing left to cry about or question? . That vast blue nothing you so eloquently lay is - for me, a helplessness - a need to just fade because there's no escape. And you're so right, jacob, 'sorrow never sleeps' . not even with a pillow to grip.

I think, sadly, that the more we endure the more we can endure.
But it's rather depressing and "happy" feels like hard work.
