No Visitors Allowed

No Visitors Allowed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

No Visitors Allowed

prolific insanity

uncoiled profanity

uncontrollable stoicism

laughing blankly, a face without twists

smooth blue skin

no goodbyes rendered

a white room memo

life escaped from the mind somehow

i called in dead

now the excitement's so bland

in a sky of random expletives

i tender my resignation

from a menu of last words

capture one last thought

in transit

then visit the gallows

of shallow vocabulary

with my pen a hanging visage

before crazy love

puts me away

for good.

The power of words dominate. The words lose their power. I like the phrase, "menu of last words". Outstanding.

I enjoy the staccato flow of thinking here Jacob. The way thoughts are put together into what essentially are individual poems. That is not in anyway to take away from the whole however. The skill shown here in abundance is mesmerising.

The "gallows of shallow vocabulary" and a complete lack of physical and emotional energy make this a piece that speaks to me. The pen sits till the spirit moves again. ~Jim

"...then visit the gallows
of shallow vocabulary
with my pen a hanging visage

before crazy love
puts me away
for good."

I'm going to bow down gracefully, and borrow a line from Carly Simon.

"...nobody does it better!"

When the heart is fragile from being broken it is best to hide it away till it is fully healed.

Jacob, the last line was my favorite. "Before crazy love puts me away for good." Excellent! Brilliantly executed, and wonderful metaphors.

This is so, well, poetic! I particularly like your lines ' then visit the gallows of shallow vocabulary'. For some reason this stuck out to me. Very nice job!

You are very welcome!
my my my! reminds me mostly of the dread i can't write anymore and the love of writing ... and so for a while we do give it a break ... but recover before its too late ... reading the first lines i thought how much i always appreciate your use of the language ..(its one of the reasons i started and will continue to pursue a better command of great words and creative phrases .. in my about me i state that i suck at cross word puzzles and so took up poetry to keep this mind from Alzheimer syndrome ;)
very interesting title .." No Visitors Allowed" ... glad you do allow a way in through secret passages ... a thought provoking poem for me!
