a realtor's misguided dream

a realtor's misguided dream

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a realtor's misguided dream

entitlement,

your love was an inseparable notion

a will in the spine of my contentment

a consignment of property

a house of heart

razed in ruinous potion

the liquid tears in tactful technique

an old "for sale" sign with some letters faded

on the market for too long

the value comes down eventually

entitlement,

of settlement

and sometimes contentment

found in moving on.

Another great usage of analogy Jacob. A foreclosed love affair perhaps. A house waiting for a buyer or love birds to rebuild their nest. Perhaps due to neglect and bitterness and discontentment. The love devalued. I wonder Jacob if it still be renovated. To give it a new face lift and perhaps rekindle the fire and give this house a new curb appeal. You always have a way of setting your canvas and using it as a background to pen your thoughts and subject or muse. Always fascinated with your skill and talent.

This made me think of cycles of ownership and how they work both ways, the way possessions and estates can come to own their owners.

Appealingly atmospheric.

This is going too get a WOW from me. This is a metaphor stand I wish I'd thought of first. Love sometimes fails under the weight of expectations. It's a painful process to putt a heart back on the market, but hopefully it's much wider this time.
Settling always sounds like a raw deal, but it's not always. One of my favorite things about this poem is that it ends on a note of contentment. Society makes it sound bad, but there is much happiness to be found there. A little.adding seems to make for wiser choices next time.x Jan

I sense a bitterness in the memory of the poem. The fortune is moving on and a chance to start anew.

the realtor often wants to get rid of a property as quickly as possible to ensure maximum profit...unfortunately, some properties are in a state of dilapidation and stays on the market far too long...eventually the realtor has to let it go for next to nothing in order to move on to the next property...such as it is with relationships...this is a great metaphorical write, my friend

you are very kind in your reviews, FT.

thank you for your words.

This reminds me of an old piece I wrote so long ago entitled Antique Stores...where I pointed out that one woman's trash is another woman's treasure; on old odd piece of junk to one person is a thing of great value to another and it must be so or else antique stores everywhere would be out of business. (smile) I always enjoy reading your musings and metaphors my friend. Have a pleasant Sunday. Bless.
