A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

walking funny

there's a blister on my heart
no ointment can freeze it enough
to delete,

yet i repeat the process
the salve of words
and it remains
indelible

perhaps if i squeeze the components
you'll drain out of my memory
but that small scar

will still be a poem
an aftereffect of the intrusion

even if only
a senryu of retention.

The pain will always be indelible...that's the food for thought we feed upon as writer's.

Write, repeat, poetry tends to be the one salve that's effective. A senryu of retention, brilliant!

i needed to be reminded that memories will always be mine to keep, and no one can take them away from me.

Memories of love will never be erased- both the happy and sad. As long as you have those memories, you will have the poems to write - both happy and sad.

We design a process to keep us moving forward, yet tracing those etched lines across our hearts made by those loves that are unforgettable.

Great lines resonating with us all who write to salve the soul.

For some reason I am reminded of Thorn in my Side by the Eurythmics … we are told to go out there and find our soul mates but we are never told they might offer more angst than euphoria. Love this.

A poet filled with the gift of writing and equally filled with the remorses of love. You must be so right hemispheric dominant you have trouble with the logics of life. Great write!

again, ending with a bang! "even if only a senryu of retention'. You posit words like a painter chooses hues and colors. Excellent!
