god bless america sometime

when the future collides

with the Ellis Island tenant

whose torch hasn't worked in years

Your shorter works are always so pointed and sharp. Wonderful economic use of words.

every one of us, including those governors who are refusing refuge to these poor souls only trying to escape terrorism and find a better life, should remember that we all have ancestors who did exactly the same thing.

i know...how ironic and sad.

Almost never has the American people been truly welcoming to the new immigrants. But the torch still burns. It burns even now, even though we might not notice it. Will it ignite a fire and destroy us, or will it ignite a fire and help us thrive. The kind of fire. That is I think the question underlying this poem. The torch is about to do work, but for which direction. We have no choice but to find out.

Shining a light into hope but..... This has so many meanings in such few lines. I envy you this ability.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness available to all those who are willing to make the sacrifices and follow the laws of her land. God bless America, indeed. -I'm not from America. I've only been to Sanfrancisco. That was a long time ago. It was lovely. A bit of a culture shock, but I've made many friends there, it was an experience. Thought-provoking j.

I think someone once said something about the folly of worshipping icons … the do make a wave when they fall. We are all human … unless you are made of stone, of course.
