Selling Back the Used Text

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Selling Back the Used Text

the bruise on my ear

from the slap of your words,

the stinging drum,

my heart beats a little slower now

without you to silence my lips

with your kiss,

that tenderness once in your eyes

now reflects the cold pupil

learning what it's like to be dismissed from class

without the slightest degree of understanding

thank you, Cassie,

Brilliant showing both sides of love that can be as devastating to the heart as the other. You never forget seeing those cold heart eyes.

Oh the stinging and cold aftermath of a dismissed love affair! Each feeling so bruised and mmisunderstood. Such a great impact you make with a few choice words. So appreciated and enjoyed.

Great poem for the end of a semester and the end of a love...
The heart does indeed lack the enthusiasm to race.
I delight to read.

If you could understand 'em, would they be so alluring?
