the grip on grief

the grip on grief

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the grip on grief

slip your sorrow into my hand

i will clasp it firmly

crush it between familiar fingers.

these palms have held alms for a poor heart

my emotions also suffered destitution

but restitution through touching your sadness

and letting it evaporate into my skin

makes life easier to hold

for both of us.

The is so gentle and giving Jacob. I really enjoyed the calm I found here.
My mind went to gripping so tight you cannot open your hand and let go... before I read the body of the poem. Then your words actually offered an emotional release.

Very powerful words to those who need them.

The compassion and empathy in this one is heartfelt. When a friend cares, it makes things much easier to bear. Knowing someone understands makes a big difference. Lydi**

The biggest hands, the biggest heart and fingers around the sufferer's dream. One sadness leaving the Earth. Thank you kind man!

Our burden and pain became lighter when there's someone who constantly shows us that we are not alone in facing them. In terms of relationship, it would be most ideal to provide strength and support when a partner is going through sorrow. Beautifully done, jacob

Getting a grip on another's grief--while continuing to carry a virtual grip full of grief.
You are burdened with sorrow; it has become almost comfortable.
You are often happier when you're sad.
Unfortunately, well within the human condition.
A profoundly perceptive piece of work, O Brilliant Bard of Carbondale!
