no reprisal from the ashes

no reprisal from the ashes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

no reprisal from the ashes

i wrote a first draft of a poem

but then shut the window

shivered one more time

then threw the pen

into the fire,

walked outside the cabin

trudged several feet through snow white pages

turned an eerie inkish blue,

watched my writing churn smoke from the chimney

then flew away

with the words under wing

looking forward to a different thing.

Laughing...funny how ideas come to mind...and then just float away. Neat idea for a write. Kathie

The words are still there, and they are waiting to be tried again, if only with a new perspective.

There is always hope. We just have to try to grasp it.
Just a long pause before one gathers one's thoughts or where your thoughts may take you. Lovely work as always Jacob.

thank you for your kind words, andrew.'

You are a genius Wordsmith.
II am so impressed by the word play,
Crafted so beautifully.
It draws an image of a journey through words and imaginations;
Sometimes taking the scenic routes are more fun..
Inspiring an evolution of new ideas to soar.

Loved this.

I like this one. I'm reminded of winter-time and weather so cold you can see your breath. It's almost got a Washington Irving sort of feel to it, too. A refreshingly cool piece!

I hope you don't do that, because then we wouldn't have all this stuff to ponder upon.

More like selfish. I feel a hole when I can't read someone I enjoy reading.
I did that and wandered off for a year. No snow though. Good job Jacob.

I'm allowed to do that??? Just stop writing our thing and walk away? Lol. I love this poem. Sometimes we just have to leave well enough alone, though often I forget that I can.
