it happens every creak of the bed spring

it happens every creak of the bed spring

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

it happens every creak of the bed spring

the laces of my tennis shoes

undo

as i run back to you in my dreams

and you laugh as i trip into your arms

waking as i hit the floor

of posture

hugging my pillow

as if your skin woke me into habit

i never really stop running

but you never quite catch me

either.

I haven't had or heard bedsprings for a very long time, but I do have some strong associations when I read the title of your well-penned message here! *sigh!*

This has such a melancholic feel, quite lovable yet also sad, something that drags you back into "gray reality".
I love the line " as if your skin woke me into habit", that's an awesome wording.

What's cool here is all these little gems sparkling around your messed up bedsheets. Time to get up!

I have had that same dream Jacob. A dream where my ineptitude faces by physical limitations. I'm reaching for someone that is out of reach and trying to hug someone who is out of focus. Then I wake up.

Thank God for two AM poetry notepads....

thank you for relating, my friend.

There are some people we run from, even though we would love to give in and tumble into their arms. At least, that is how I take this one. Sometimes it might be good to stop running and see what transpires.

Dreaming of the one you loved...the one who got away. If you do trip and fall into her arms, will you awaken with a smile or will you realize it was never meant to be? Only Morpheus knows for sure. I liked it. Lydi**
