needing a heart loan

needing a heart loan

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

needing a heart loan

i'm spending the currency in my mind
on memories already spent
priceless purses of "what if's"
that long ago became a bankruptcy
of integrated imaginings of you
with a cost i couldn't afford,

at more reasonably affordable affections
you would have loved me,
with a money back guarantee,
an investment in ever afters.

but i chose what was out of my range
and now i am still spending currency in my mind

getting deeper in debt
though shorter on memory.

Haven't been here for a while. I've missed your words, J.

Beautifully and brilliantly executed, as always.

Better to be deeper in debt, than bankrupt of memories. Good write, j.

so relateable for me ...well said my friend ...this boat has at least two on board but i am petty confident it will soon fill to sinking ..such a flood of feelings have come up from the depths to remind me of someone from ages past ..well done for me sir!
i am never dissatisfied reading your poetry ..Merry Christmas and safe Happy New Year .. i look forward to many more visits to read and know you a bit better each time ..

The fact you used financial terms to describe a romance is wonderful because the two of them are rarely thought of together. As the maturity date nears, the interest wanes....or something like that. :) I liked it. Lydi**

This is very fortuitous Jacob.
I know a girl who doesn't cost to much, at least not in currency. Oh, and the memories she'll leave you with.
I'll send you Shirley's number.

I saw this title & had to click becuz it reminds me of how I feel sometimes. I love the transactional playfulness of your still-stone-cold-serious message! Oh how foolish I've been when it comes to the investments I've made! *sigh!*
