4 lines from a thaw

4 lines from a thaw

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

4 lines from a thaw

snowed in by your icy demeanor

slipping on your indifferent pavement

even my salty tears

can not steady my heart's step.

Emotional barriers and walls cannot always be broken- sadly they sometimes only realise when it’s too late- wonderful words🌹

Drifting relationships can be numbingly cold. But there is always the expectation that sometime the ice will melt. Just four lines engendering much forethought.

I love the wordplay between winter & the onslaught of a fierce romantic chill. Slippery pavement, always feeling off balance, & sprinkling salt doesn't help. So many excellent & harmonious analogies packed into such a short poem!

How quickly the silent treatment can put us outside looking in without knowing how we got there. Good write, j.

Does nothing not inspire you? We didn't get a flake here so.

Hope for a quick thaw and the salty tears might keep the pavement from freezing next time.

It is very true Sir, cold demeanor can freeze a heart instantly.
Those four lines have the power to melt many. They speak volumes. I wish the rocky cold heart also melts.
Thank you for sharing this..

Four lines that tell it all and I hope the thaw did indeed follow for sometimes saying and accepting it is half the battle and makes way for warmth and light to enter again.

I like these four lines -- and relate -- indifference, coldness, rather than hot anger, can sting far greater than anything.
