Never after

Never after

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Never after

Cinderella's swollen ankle

broken slipper

the horses break for eternity

at a cantor

her pumpkin overripe

spatters into shards---

her sisters' revenge

an evil sibling gets the prince

he is dumbfounded and naïve

the quiet sweetheart

keeps sweeping up the remnants

of her fractured heart.

Yes, if we only learn of reality tampering our expectations and hopes. A great challenge to an assumed happy ending.

Another take on the myth.
I still need to sneak into one of your classes.

you don't have to sneak in, just knock on the door...you would be welcomed.

This actually made me kind of sad, haha. I'm the kind of person who tries to believe in happy endings, but it's true that they don't always happen. Despite the sadness, I still enjoyed reading it.

I love it when writers get creative and turn something old into something new.
There is no such thing as a complete happy ending once the perfect moment is over.

In real life we have to leave the fairy tales behind us and often end up sweeping up the pieces as others determine our fate in love's shadow. Sometimes we watch love's demise knowing we love that person still. This seems a simple metaphor at first but it has a make-you-think quality within your wonderful thesaurus of metaphors Jacob.

Oh, this is very touching. A bit of hard reality, as she 'keeps sweeping up the remnants,' not only of her fractured heart but also her sisters messes I expect!
