idiot poet

idiot poet

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

idiot poet

i'm now an older sot

without much of a plot

steeped in disarray

sorting out one awry cry

at a time

if wisdom is sense

or sense, wisdom

i possess neither,

and my cornea is no clearer

the one in my fading mind

but with love i do mind you

in the heart's sense

as well as following your plot

regards to modification

but i'm modified enough, thank you

and the reality is

a subordinate stream of assent

is how i'll be ascending

when the end comes

of me,

or us

no thematic twists left

no surprise endings

there will be a last word

and i will probably misspell it

Poetry tells of the soul's condition..
Happiness is sometimes a secret
that is never revealed
in words..
Poetically Correct.. may not be the aim..
But we express a heart's tone, texture, depth
just the same..

Understood !.... Well Done..

You are welcome jacob............:)..........
Hope that time is a long way off.
I suppose in the end, the words change.
No longer flowing into rhyme.
Maybe no longer flowing at all.
But that's what history is for.
In the end, that's what we are.

thank you,

I was once told that an idiot was borderline of genius if that were the case I think many of us qualify especially with our writing techniques. Its been a long time since I wrote, because with work and online school its hard to find time very humorous write J

your welcome J
Nicely self-effacing diatribe! You make being a fuddy-duddy sound like an artful situation! Don't we all have our stretches of feeling totally inadequate? You've painted this gently & lyrically (((HUGS)))

Gee
DAMN, I fully expected this to be addressed to me. Many a time called that by teachers at school...." Stevenson you're an idiot "
Very few o my poems are precious to me and am often surprised as to how well they are received ( unless that is folk being kind)
Hope you are well Jacob

it's often the poems we write we feel the least pleased with that end up pleasing the most readers.... read more

Or an eye catching title.....my pleasure
i am glad your protagonist is ascending in the end ...and has the humility to recognize his propensity to misspell (among other faults) ... perhaps poetry heaven awaits him ...i would wager, much to his big surprise

The last two lines made me smile! When we are gone, who will know how significant our words were to us? Who will care? I guess the answer is, "It does not matter." We write because we must....it is who we are and even if that makes us boring, it's okay. Lydi**

thank you for your words, Lydi...

It's funny; I was just looking at my poems last night and thinking the same thing. Perhaps when I die I'll have them cremated with me.
But on good days my poems are the little treasures I myself created, and that's why I write. I suspect you're the same.

haha, Man I love your writing. You tell it like it is, the reality is, we're all getting older and they say the older you become the wiser you get, this is true but it's also the more practical you become as well. You're one cool cat jacob, I don't know if this means anything to you but I idolize you and you are definitely full of surprises. If you misspell any last words, your friends at the Cafe will be sure to call it out. Then again, your words are timeless and will live on in the minds of all you've inspired here and elsewhere. Love you buddy! great write.
