A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

along with the poems that can't be saved

don't need a bucket list....

i have enough of them,

one for my old sandbox

which has become a quicksand box of painful memories

i have that bucket of tears

but cried it dry

the bucket used to clean up my emotional messes

but so many holes made it useless years ago

i had buckets of well wishes for friends

but they kicked the bucket

before i could send them

and now i have a bucket of unused flowers

which never survived the weeds

of shame

don't need a bucket list...

i will continue to do what needs to be done

the wishes will have to be saved

for the next flood of philandering

miscues and hopeful attention

that might need to be thrown into the

wishing well.

to drown with my sorrows.

Poets write past their bucket list...
Writing is a way of learning how to live well.

Self preservation...sometimes a cold view of life rattling events. Sometimes it is easier to be flippant than to be swallowed by circumstances. Such strong emotion...so well expressed. Love your writing as always.

Hopefully all sorrows will drown and a happy poet will survive.

We are creative at different stages of our lives. We put aside poems we intend to post , that seem relevant to the status quo but as time goes on they seem to bear little significance to life measures. I can see where you are coming from with this piece. I agree totally.

You are very welcome, my friend and fellow writer.
The contemplation of sorrows binds all our miseries and joys together, leaving us to sort out that mess. Very insightful.

We can not plan to be happy when some event happens...a new car, a new love, a concert. Nope, we have to do what we want NOW...no one is promised a certain amount of time in this lifetime. Life is filled with potholes...it is how you navigate them that determines your happiness. Lydi**

Life gets in the way. It's terribly ironic don't you think. This pitch perfect piece carries sorrow on its journey.
