in the afterlife of you

in the afterlife of you

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in the afterlife of you

finessing the feelings
the underbelly of pain
assuaging the after-touch to the heart

rejoicing in reflection
the palpable nature of love
lips now untouched

still tingle with the thoughts
of knee buckling kisses
and mind bending closeness...

And such closeness is difficult to detach from. The "afterlife" or aftermath of something so enveloping leaves us in a mournful perception at times...as always Jacob, an honour to read you today my friend.

Love that is gone but lingers is my world. Direct to my heart.
Why do you look so much like Michael McDonald ??

Such a perfectly chosen title, Jacob.

Your words certainly speak of this afterlife where one reminisces on a past love, long since gone, but whose touch still electrifies deep in the soul and memory.

And don't we all desire knee buckling kisses?! The best kind there is.

Wonderful reflections full of palpable longing. Another fine write, Jacob.

"still tingle with the thoughts
of knee buckling kisses
and mind bending closeness"

This part sounds as a birth union of the other half in the afterlife.

Hope you like my interpretation.

Not always will such exhilarating romance be there. In fact, it rushes away before we can even begin to fathom its magic fully! Loved the concluding verse, brilliant in conveying the power of such feelings.
