dry docked

dry docked

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

dry docked

harboring feelings

docking near your heart

emotions swell

breakwater evidence of love

if you jump on my skiff

we could sail into sunsets forever

only i know nothing about sailing

so i'll just be a mute yeoman

watching you slowly drift

toward another's shore.

Nice metaphor here Jacob, yes in the sea of love we are all boats and yes what becomes trash to someone is another one's treasure.

thank you for your words, andrew.

Although some differences help make a relationship stronger and complete, some differences love cannot defeat.

thank you, Dale...and love your pic...

Such a paradox of overwhelming feeling expressed here..love, yearning, promise, relinquishing. “If” and”only” and a world of difference between them...brilliant metaphor of sailing, navigating love. “I’ll be just a mute yeoman”-speaks gently, humbly and sadly to my heart. Genius.

You are most welcome.
J., you always make me think more deeply when I read your work. (That's a good thing). Right or wrong, I see unrequited love. The wannabee skipper wants to sail with her, but seems to doubt himself and what he can offer. So, he's resigned to a fate without her, imagining her drift beyond reach. Thanks for the morning brain exercise. Another good piece, sir.
