no Encore, no new dates

no Encore, no new dates

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

no Encore, no new dates

shutdowns,

put-downs

tweeters with bad timbre

the bass, ear splitting din

corrupting the sheathing of the hall,

within

impasse in vinyl coating

the music stops

deft ears listen closely for a sound

then break into shattered peace

silent screaming

and inert musicians

watching their instruments

lean against crumbling walls.

This doesn’t sound like music to me! MOre like a band that should quit and hang up it’s guitars.

thank you, perhaps they should.

Always love your newly-minted & creatively-extended metaphors! This morning my reading choices seem to be focused on this widespread theme of relating badly! It must be epidemic! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Yes! Great metaphor, wordplay, eloquent language and timely theme. Great truth spoken sadly here. The “silent screaming”-brilliant. The cacophony, the “ear-splitting din” of ego and greed described perfectly. ‘Just another brick in the wall’...A Master Class write my friend!

........:)!
Another good one, J... and so timely. If this band of "535 members" (not including the shaggy maestro) were to disband and never play another miserable song, we'd all be better for it. Instead, we wait because it's the only band in town.

I was listening to this politician telling the media the armed forces wouldn't be getting paid. But they would continue to do their job. Was hoping for a mass tweet of. Oh no we're not.
As usual, it's okay for rich politicians to survive. Always hits the man and women on the frontline.
