secret santa

secret santa

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

secret santa

there are flies in the pantry

opened wounds

scar tissue

wrapped in red ribbon

a bow on the heart

damaged goods

Kleenex eyes

absorbed too much blood

now there is a weak sense of self

dying seems a present scheme but

a future gift

to end the nightmares

reindeer don't dance to this tune

the record plays at slow speed

and reminds

with every note that buzzes in the clipped wing

memories

that can never fly away.

This seems as a relatable piece, Sir.
The first stanza is all about the hurts and the second stanza's lines depict so beautiful meaning and the last lines too...Your poems are always among the best.

thank you for your kind review, Priyanshi...

The heart is wrapped up in red bow....it bleeds profusely.... the scars are too deep to heal....nothing helps... yet the poet does not want it to heal...he wants to just drown in the pain n the pleasure of the memories....that's what i felt when i read this one....

Funny I can’t see secret Santa , all I see is a closet full of skeletons and the memories now nightmares from being played slow.
