the flowers came too late

the flowers came too late

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the flowers came too late

composure slips into coma
your eyes touch mine
and i am a mindless diagnosis

heart support and intravenous drips of courage
keeps me breathing your scent
i am insecurity's perfect patient

i love you in my sleep
but waking finds me running toward
conundrum's rehab

i'll never get well enough to love you
and my emotional insurance is waning
soon, they will send me home

without you.

Love can be a total blessing or a curse sometimes we lose ourselves onky to realise too late that it was all infront of us all the time, loss can keep us prisoner fir life, not easy, great words🌹

My pleasure🌹
"I am insecurity's perfect patient "Wow! Isn't that the truth? Wanting to love, needing to be loved in return, and afraid of what? the rejection. And then time passes as does the moment "soon they will send me home". This beautiful poem touches the universal soul, my friend.

jacob,
It's been a while and you are still cranking out some of my favorite poetry. This piece oozes internal conflict of the wounded. The need to reach out and be loved is hindered by the fear of loving and being hurt and damaged once again. I'm glad you're still at it. Maybe I'll find the inspiration to start writing again somewhere between your lines.

Nakedly beautiful; it almost hurts to read. But this is why I compare you to our mutual friend Allen Ginsburg.

Don't forget: "First thought, Best thought." I love this guy.
This is beautiful writing. Packed with emotion that stays consistent until the end. Great work.

"i'll never get well enough to love you" . . . this superb line might explain my lifelong inability to be in a committed relationship! If I looked at my track record of connections, it might be as dreary as this (which is why I never look). Your depiction of brokenness feels like walking on shards of glass! *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

A powerful poem Jacob on two themes one of love and separation and the medical system that is failing us all!

Powerful piece, J....perfect expression of love vs guilt.
Even though we can’t always get what we want in reality, sometimes it is best to save the truth in our mind.
