the reinforcements never came

the reinforcements never came

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the reinforcements never came

in dominant retreat

your gaze comes forward

i flinch in accepting withdrawal

i loved your eyes before i met them

and you too,

before i met you

and you too

before the war.

Oh beautiful- that beforeness is the wonder of love true- sometimes bringing blue- we only have our own backup to depend on- wonderful words🌹
