A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

royal weddings,

royal typewriters

with missing keys try to translate

love with skipped letters

vows in current stanzas

future words negotiated

with punched resolve

and banged up carriages

rolling to an abrupt stop

pomp and circumstance

it's all so pretty in the beginning

just like when the typewriters

first come out of the box.

Typewriters, Royal weddings and carriages. Smiling at just how clever you are with your writing. I can remember learning to type on one of those old ones, depressing the keys and returning the carriage, to start on the next line. Changing those messy ribbons and all those typos, you have brought back to me Jacob.

Yes indeed.. my first Olivetti tho still remembered was consigned to the attic long before it was transferred to the council refuse and recycling depot many many moons ago... of course, the years do take their toll, but so does technology...........what will tomorrow bring... and the trick is, to keep that typewriter well taken care of, to keep it oiled and dust free so that it has a chance to last a very long time... everything breaks down by use or neglect, the real story is how well you work at fixing it when it does.... far too often we do not hear or ignore the warning signs of changes and so when it breaks, we just throw it away.... of course sometimes no matter what you do, it all falls apart...

royal weddings are always mostly pomp and circumstance, just another fake "reality show", unless you are addicted to and believe in Hallmark Channel's romcoms... lol...
Jacob you always amaze me with your metaphors and where they allow me to go....
