saluting Poe

saluting Poe

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

saluting Poe

intoxicated poems

can't situate

in a digressing mind

too much turnover of thought

emotions needing to ramble

statuesque improvisation of past loves limited

the only stillness

is in the pen when it tries to smile.

I also came by Poe through Alan Parsons. The things that speak to you are the windows into our inner world. Great Poem

Lovely poem Jacob, I always enjoyed tales and mysteries of the imagination by Alan parson’s project, a tribute to Poe. A fine writer indeed , always liked the raven.

well, when the pen no longer smiles, it's time to "Quoth the Jacob Nevermore".... er… couldn't resist Jacob.... but it seems we all have 'tell tale hearts' buried and haunting us 'forevermore'... wait, is that a pendulum I hear swishing back and forth, back and forth, lower and lower, not so much a smile, just satanic laughter... okay, let me get the Poe outta here before I find myself down by the sea looking for annabell lee....

Once upon a midnight dreary. Don't we all love Poe and how he can influence our mood? Intoxicated poems, what a thought. I love that idea of them taking over and behaving badly. When the pen tries to smile - that hurt. Ouch I am thinking. Great work as always Jacob.

I feel bad pointing out how good that last line is amongst all the others, but it speals volumes more than some books have told me about him.
As always Jacob, you penetrate through all the ephemeral, finding the crux so elowuently and succinctly. As the lady says to the waitress "i'll have what he's having," :)

Poe is my favorite poet. He seemed to have a romantic heart but a dark mind.
