instead of you

instead of you

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

instead of you

in the indeterminate sunlight

i saw what i thought was your face

in the intermittent sirens

thought i heard you whisper love

i was driven to the scene of the serene

hoax found

shadowed redolence

dis-tempered screams

among the lies

and lines in your fractured smile

just sat awhile

absorbing the sounds of the sham

holding a hand

that didn't hold back

then screamed at the ending frown

that perched

in the stead of your

siren smile's place---

So much sadness in this one Jacob, especially in the line, "holding a hand that didn't hold back." But an inspiring piece all the same.

Grace.

Oh what a tangled web we weave....and that web can hurt deeply. It is amazing how many people hide deception behind a smile. Unfortunately, I have encountered this many times in my life....and it has made me quite cynical. The metaphors here are wonderful. Lydi**

This intense poem made me recollect Donalbain and Malcolm's conversation after their father's murder. It seems that the "daggers in men's smiles" are blunt in comparison to the swords in this siren's deceptive grin.

I did like this poem my friend. I had more sirens than muses.
"then screamed at the ending frown

I loved the ending. The siren smile's and leave you bleeding. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Jacob.
There is more hurt here than in a lot of hospital clearing stations.... holding a hand that didn't hold back, are lines that made me wince sir... perfectly poemed jacob,

Not at all, you are never boring jacob

The senses of a broken-hearted man, bleeding inside, seeing nothing within view but sadness and misery. It’s a familiar feeling and well conveyed in this poem.

no worries.
Sadly forevers are rare. Often disappointment sets in as one party sets their own agenda at the expense of the other. Painful to experience but part of life's rich tapestry. Holding a hand that didn't hold back. How lonely is that? Devastatingly so.
