Inside of Me

Inside of Me

For Joey and Bella. I wonder....

Inside of Me

by Erin L George

Inside of me grows magic

a boy, perhaps, whose sneakers I'll wash

after a muddy day

playing capture the flag.

I wonder,

will he run with the grace of his father

or

will he fall, like others

unashambed.

They say it's not the number of times you fall

but how many times you get up.

Inside of me grows a miracle

little girl lost to pink rinestones

lining her sneakers.

She walks around mud puddles

and manages to keep them

white

whiter than mine.

Oh,

sweet child.

They say innocence is something we lose

too fast

too fast

she grows

inside of me.

Pepporoni pizza

from a place called Romanos -

they say, drop the "Ro" for savings,

and I smirk,

wrapping my lips

around their Chicken Stir Fry sub.

I wonder

do they even like pizza?

That,

would be a must!

Pizza in the rain

after a game of basketball

grows

pick up style -

like my stomach.

There's heaven

inside of me.

It wraps itself warm

round my soul,

filling me with wonders -

the kind he's never known.

They say miracles happen,

if only you believe.

A different look at the miracle it is to have another someone growing inside of you. I have a 6 yr old girl and a 6 mo old boy, myself.
I enjoyed the theme, and your voice is kind, mature, and honest here. Nicely written.
