Winding Darkness

Winding Darkness

A Poem by Erin Lee

Winding Darkness

It's a dark and winding road

the path from my heart

to my soul

twisting through old lovers

and promises never kept

or never said.

It's a dark and winding road

the trail he left of kisses

tattooed on my skin

alongside freckles

and the bitter taste

of regret.

It's a dark and winding road

the hallway dim with candles

lit by good intention

and the smell of lemon drops

so carefully left along

the rim.

It's a dark and winding road

between the wills of my soul

and cynic in my head

and I cannot navigate

steering into bushes

overgrown.

This is a wonderful dark poem about the darker emotion of love. I can relate to this perfectly. The flow of this poem was easy to follow. Great write and thanks for posting in Poetry and Lyrical group.
