True Love

True Love

A Poem by Erin Lee

True Love

By Erin L George

Mess up my bed.

Crumpled sheets

smelling of cotton candy

and yesterday’s kisses.

The kind of love so deep

you can feel it

even when you're apart.

Tussle my hair.

Dandelions dance in meadows

spreading whispers

of the way she smiles.

Dishes left in the sink

tasting of sweet honey

somehow fresh.

The kind of love so strong

it never leaves you,

even after death.

Speak to me.

Willow trees take a final bow,

graceful curtsey

daring us to never say goodbye.

Hold me close.

The kind of love so true

it burns into your soul

and hurts.

Pass the Calmine lotion.
