When I Act Like a Fool

When I Act Like a Fool

A Poem by Erin Thomas
"

a little writing exercise

"

You make me forget who I am

You make me deny the words on my tongue

You make me listen twice

You make me avoid you

You make me repeat what you say in my head

You make me wait

You make me lose focus

You make me act like a fool

You make me act like a girl

You make me see an unconventional side of myself

You make me sing in the shower

You make me shut up when I shouldn’t

You make me hate you

You make me want you

You make me not believe you

You make me trust you

You make me hum tunes when I walk

You make me angry

You make me not understand why I am writing a poem about you

You make me act like a fool
