Numbness To Pain

Numbness To Pain

A Story by Snow Angel

For awhile I was numb now tears are falling down my cheek. These negative thoughts are so difficult to shake. This is what happens when I've been alone for to long. It seems like I've been abandoned and stranded on a deserted island. It's that no one around but its by choice that makes the my heart sink to my stomach. Losing faith and hope but still searching for something. Something that won't cause me pain or that won't make me numb. I'm searching for something or someone to make me genuinely smile.  My faith and hope is stuck in the dark. I need someone to bright light into the darkness. I have no choice but to do it on my own but how. How is the question that haunts me.

Everyone feels this way, at some point in life. There are difficult stretches where we need to be numb. It sounds to me like the narrator is starting to realize self-reliance is the only guarantee in life . . . other people always disappoint, & it's not anyone else's job to make us happy or to rescue us from the frustrations of life. This narrator seems to be on the verge of raising up with a new understanding of his/her own inner strength & resilience. Good job of expressing realistic feelings in a raw & relatable way! Sometimes we do feel lost and searching for something or someone, I know thats how iv been feeling for the longest time now but anyways, sometimes until we find what we're looking for or who we're looking for we should adapt to what we have now and where we are now and accept it, until we get what we're really waiting for, patience is an ally when it comes to this.

Your words are honest and I know how it feels to be lost in such a situation. Be strong, do whatever you like doing you will feel better.

This is a very good description of emotions that are hard to communicate. Life beats us down and makes us numb, but we hold out hope that the right thing will find us even though it seems impossible.
