Too Little Too Late

Too Little Too Late

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

a word person still rehashing the U.S. presidential election of 2016

"

Hernie  Ticket   Hernie Ticket  Hernie Hernie Hernie Ticket

This is one sorry rehash of the election disaster of 2016

when we had a chance to defeat the mean nectarine

the capitalist falsifier self-admitted p***y grabbing

defamer of our neighbors villainizer apricot tinted

unqualified right-wing extremist clown

resoundingly we bring him down

We utterly defeat him we resoundingly defeat him

electorally with such a landslide at the polls

and the winning ticket is the Hernie Ticket

Hernie  is a portmanteau word

a hard to beat phenomenon

a new word made from parts

of two pre-existing words

You take part of one word

and you take part of another word

and you put them both into a suitcase

and then you shake the suitcase

and then you open the suitcase

and you say Voila!

and there you have a third new word

Hernie

You take the H from Hillary

and you take the ernie from Bernie

and you put them together into a suitcase

and then you shake the suitcase

this way and that

then you open the suitcase

and you say Voila!

You have a new word: Hernie

I'm with her and I'm with the Hernie Ticket

the Hernie Ticket is the winning ticket

We have two good candidates for president

and an urgency of disaster prevention

let Hillary head the ticket and be our next president

let Bernie be our next vice president

let Hernie happen

A portmanteau word is a unifying rhetoric

The winner of the 2016 race

was born  from parts

in a magic suitcase

The Hernie Ticket was

the winning ticket

was
