Medics Creed

Medics Creed

A Poem by Sherry Lynn

Dear Lord, I pray to thee
Grant wisdom to those
out on our streets
allow them knowledge
to save many lives
show them hope
not one soul shall die

when sirens wail
while we sleep
let them know
in our hearts they keep

sacrificing safety
family and friends
forsaking themselves
never making amends

the job of a medic
is by far the hardest
Often wondering why
a patient has died

no prejudice or hate
no matter the age or being
Always striving their best
even when they fail to rest

Oh, father, to thee I plee
hold our medics close
keep their senses keen
for each child saved
and a grandparent lost
we remain thankful
for the medic's creed
