Moonlight

Moonlight

A Poem by Jonathan Kurtz

Sometimes, I just wish that we can have a meaningful conversation without you getting so lost in your own head, full of a world of bewilderment. You walk off with a ridiculous smile, while I stand in the cold desert night, unable to find a single footprint as I look behind me. Exclude all of the awkward silences while my conscience is screaming at me with guilt for not always having all of the answers for you.  All I ever did was hide my pain at your expense in order to protect you. Meanwhile, I cheated myself out of growing and finding myself without your guidance to begin with. One of these days it's going to all come together, but it appears you've wandered so far away that you may never see it. Therefore, I say congratulations; you really did some fine work and ill be there momentarily to assist you and I'm still willing to share the moonlight with you, if I ever do find it.
