She's on a quest to hold onto her sanity.

The Last Shard of Sanity

She would run up the stairs,

in order to get home,

she's on a quest to sit

& cry,

to cry, in order,

to hold onto

her sanity.

A phone rings

she stops her crying,

and

with the last moment of her strength

she picks up the phone

& says "hello"

I like the simplicity of this poem.....it is a snippet of life most people would be able to relate to, but you expressed it so spontaneously.....

It is ironic, sometimes, how life interrupts our emotions (those phone calls), and then, helps to stir a whole new batch too.....:)

Such a collection of life's minutes, words left behind, deserted as if worthless. How sad is that.. thoughts and pauses are precious commodities if nothing else.. we should, could.. learn from them = surely.

I like the emotion expressed in these few words. This is what I come away with. Disregard, if I've missed the mark.
Our disguise hides vulnerability, but closes us off from that which we desire. The pressure builds until, in a safe place, we remove the mask. Release becomes an uncontrollable tsunami. We hope each call is a lifeline thrown.

There are so many scenes that could be attributed to this poem. The despair of loneliness, a lost love,family tragedy.
You kept a subtle tension throughout, without revealing anything. Perhaps there WAS nothing.....except a state of mind.
