Fairy Tale

Fairy Tale

A Poem by Faith Almazan

Once upon a time,
I fell in love when I was twenty.
Individuality left behind,
him always put in front of me.

Oh, yes. I put him there,
hate that silly, head over heels b***h.
Willing to do just anything,
to save our doomed relationship.

If I ever fall in love again,
How can I make sure that it's real?
Will I let myself be vulnerable
Or will I stay away from people?

I would rather be alone.
I think it's better off that way.
I'd never bother anyone
they could go about their day,
       Without worrying or wondering
Being a burden in their way.
I'd never have to fear
if my love will go or stay.

Can I have that healthy love?
A relationship where we're equals?
I won't have that conventional life
and say my vows under a steeple.

Maybe in the next life,
or a couple times from now.
I'll try to let some good in
to be a Faith in love somehow.
