Spring, To Be Sprung

Spring, To Be Sprung

A Poem by 747

The grass is green

Yet the fields are white

The Sun is shining

But the air has bite

Spring still un-sprung

Winter dragging on

Days persevere in growing;

Longer one by one

Flowers alive

Kept inside

Flowers dead

Cover the ground

Hoarfrost glitters

In the daylight’s gleam

The trees all standing

Waiting for a summer dream

Spring waiting to be sprung

Winters’ grip, a waning one

Daylight hours growing long

One small breath of life to come

Bring birds and song to winter’s misery

Drips and drops of icicles shrinking

Out the window you will see

The grassy fields are green again

Spring is certainly trying to come but it's still a few weeks away for me...it's my favorite season though - you did a great job describing its delay :)

I do understand the poem. I live in Michigan. Sometime Spring is late. I liked your description of the late coming of Spring and the grasp of Winter upon the earth. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
